Tucked into the streets of Farringdon, Space Talk is a new kind of listening bar, quietly confident, acoustically attuned, and designed with intimacy at its core. A collaboration between London-based architecture practice EBBA and Studio Charlotte Taylor, the project blends refined spatial thinking with a deep sensitivity to sound, light, and material.

Completed in 2024 and photographed by Ollie Tomlinson, the bar draws its concept from a desire to foster calm and community through design. Rather than dominate, the space invites, with soft curves, warm light, and a natural material palette that wraps around the room like an embrace. Timber, in particular, plays a central role in the interior’s acoustic and visual atmosphere, absorbing sound while giving the space a gentle, tactile resonance.

The spatial configuration itself emerged from a series of design challenges, shaped by the unique demands of a venue where sound is the main act. The result is a place that feels both sophisticated and intimate—a bar that doubles as a sanctuary for music lovers.
At the heart of the experience is a custom sound system by Friendly Pressure, designed in collaboration with Lewis Kemmenoe. The acoustic treatment, developed by Ethan Bourdeau, ensures that every note feels intentional, clear, and grounded. Seating and furnishings by Spazio Leone add sculptural balance and visual rhythm, reinforcing the bar’s quiet sense of cohesion.

Every detail in Space Talk was crafted to contribute to a unified whole. From the orientation of the room to the warm glow of vintage-inspired lighting, each decision supports the larger narrative of slowness and sonic clarity. It’s not just a space to have a drink, it’s a space to truly listen.
